Kopernik Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11 Mission to the Moon

Kopernik Observatory and Science Center is marking the 50^th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon with a special program July 19.

A presentation and lots of family activities ranging from coloring projects to sampling astronaut food and viewing a moon rock on loan from NASA are planned starting at 7 p.m.

There will be an encore presentation of “Apollo 11 at 50: What Did We Learn and What Are We Still Learning” at 8:15 p.m.

Admission is $5 adults, $3 for students or seniors, a $16  maximum for families and free for Kopernik members.  The observatory is located on Underwood Road in Vestal.  Kopernik’s telescopes are also opening this evening with Jupiter and Saturn prime viewing targets.
