Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a smoky blaze that evacuated residents of a Kirkwood apartment building and drew firefighters from several departments but apparently resulted in no serious injuries.

Broome Emergency Services officials say the blaze was reported at around 3 p.m. November 22 on Route 11 in Kirkwood.

Fire crews from Kirkwood were joined by Five Mile Point, Endwell and others and the activity shut down U.S. Route 11 in the general area for several hours.

All the occupant of the two-story apartment house were able to evacuate without assistance from firefighters.
