Funny Shirt and Useless Laptop: Suspect in Lansing Best Buy Theft Sought
Wearing a cool or funny t-shirt to a crime may not be the wisest choice when one wants to stay inconspicuous.
New York State Police are looking for a suspect whose unique fashion style might be a giveaway in connection with the theft of an employees-only-computer from the Best Buy store in the Shops at Ithaca in Lansing.
A bald, muscular Black man is seen on surveillance video sporting a dark t-shirt with a white cartoon graphic on the front depicting what appears to be a muscle-bound man lounging in a chair with some unidentifiable writing under the picture.
The suspect appears to be of average height and was wearing dark colored pants that appear to be jeans. He may have been in his 30s but the news release from the State Police provides no approximate age, height or weight of the suspect.
The State Police say the suspect seen in the surveillance pictures is believed to have stuffed a laptop that can only be used with employee credentials under his shirt at around 1:44 p.m. September 18.
The Best Buy Store is located at the Shops at Ithaca off Catherwood Road in the Village of Lansing.
The suspect is believed to have left the scene in a black Sport Utility Vehicle. Parking lot surveillance images of the vehicle are also being provided by the New York State Police in Ithaca.
The lap top computer is a silver HP Envy laptop and, again is specifically set up so it can only be used by Best Buy employees and needs to be accessed by employee credentials.
