Binghamton University Names New Head Coach Of Women’s Basketball Program

On April 24th, Binghamton University Athletics announced via the BU Bearcats website, the new head coach for the BU Division I Wdmen's Basketball Program.

21-year coaching veteran, Mary Grimes, who most recently coached Le Moyne for the past three seasons, will be introduced in a press conference at 2 p.m. Friday, April 26th at the Events Center.

According to Binghamton University Athletics, Grimes led the Le Moyne Dolphins to 18 wins during the past season, including a 14-2 conference record, runner-up NEC tournament finish, and the program's first-ever WNIT berth. Grimes was chosen as the NEC Coach of the Year by her peers.

She was also an assistant coach at Xavier University for two years before heading to Le Moyne. Grimes coached for six years with the University of Albany Great Danes In the America East Conference from 2010 to 2016 and was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the Syracuse University Orange from 2005 to 2010.

Binghamton University Athletics notes that Grimes was a four-year starter and two-year captain at Siena College. While there, she led the Saints to three MAAC regular season titles and three postseason tournament berths. Grimes had a total of 770 career points and 220 assists and ranks among Siena's all-time top-10 with 109 three-pointers in 119 collegiate games.
