Some of the well-known museums include the Motown Museum in Detroit Michigan, the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Nashville Tennesse, The Rock-n-Roll Museum in Cleveland Ohio, and the New Orleans Jazz Museum in New Orleans Louisiana. There was once a Bagpipe Museum in Ellicott City Maryland, but apparently, it is gone, for now.

And there is one museum dedicated to music that is just a 90-minute drive east of Binghamton. Many of us have been there a time or two. It's the Museum at Bethel Woods, part of the Bethel Woods Center For The Arts.

I took my first visit to the museum last year. I don't know why I waited this long to visit, but I'm glad I finally did. It was a great experience. It not only tells the tale of Woodstock but also the music scene of the 1960s era. Check out the article about my visit here.

USA Today is celebrating music museums across the United States by asking Americans to vote for their favorite music museum from the list of nominees as part of the USA TODAY’s 10 Best Readers' Choice travel awards. And one of those nominees to vote for is the Museum at Bethel Woods.

Out of the 20 music museums in the running, the Museum at Bethel Woods (as of 1/24) is in 2nd place behind the Johnny Cash Museum in Nashville Tennessee. Nothing against the Man in Black, but I'm rooting for Bethel Woods as number 1.
