10 Players Who Have Probably Played Their Last Game As Buffalo Bills
It was a rough weekend for Bills fans. For a lot of us, it's hard to believe that the season is over. Now is the time when many of us begin thinking about next year and who the Bills might need to replace.
One of the hardest things about a season ending is knowing that next year, the team will look almost completely different. Today, we found out that the team is moving on without their head coach of the past 9 seasons, Sean McDermott. Unfortunately, the changes don't end there. Due to salary cap constraints, expiring contracts, retirements, and free agency, players will be forced to move on.

Once you become Bills Mafia, you'll always be Bills Mafia.
There's a phrase that Bills Mafia uses that states, "Once you become Bills Mafia, you'll always be Bills Mafia." In other words, it doesn't matter if you move on to another team, we will still love you like you're family. When you come back to Buffalo, you will still be "one of ours."
That's even been shown in recent years as some players have gone on to play for other teams, then come back to play for the Bills like Jordan Poyer, Tre'Davious White, and Jordan Phillips.
Who will definitely be back to play for the Bills next year?
The summer of 2025 was a big year for restuctured contracts and extensions from Brandon Beane, so before we talk about who won't be back, let's look at the players who will still be the core of this group. You can start with two of the team's biggest stars. Both Josh Allen and James Cook are under contract for a couple more years, so we don't have to worry about them going anywhere soon. Defensive end Greg Rousseau and cornerback Christian Benford both signed extensions and will be back. Terrel Bernard got a big extension this year. While he was injured for most of the season, hopefully, he'll be able to heal up and come back at full speed. Josh Allen's security blanket Khalil Shakir and both of his offensive tackles (Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown) will be back too.
These players have probably played their last games with the Bills
The Bills also had a laundry list of players who were only signed to one-year contracts and could end up going somewhere else to play next year. There's no guarantee for most of them. The Bills are short of cash to spend in 2026. They're 24th in the league in terms of open cap space (-$3,064,214) and, unfortunately, have a roster with some of the oldest players in the league.
