Yep..that is what happened to one small river in the state of Indiana. According to WEHT, a viewer noticed that the small river turned blood red when she was out on a walk on the Jasper Riverwalk.

WITZ Radio reported that officials said an environmentally friendly dye was placed into the water by a maintenance crew was the cause of the color.

Now dye tests happen all over the country. They are used to help protect wildlife and let scientists learn about tides and where the water travels. Watch the video to learn more about it.
