It looks as though you may be able to use that snowblower and skis after all.  Howard Manges, Chief Meteorologist from WBNG-TV just updated his Wednesday night snow predictions and it sounds like there is potential for a snow storm along with the coldest days of the winter are also a part of that forecast.

According to Howard, it will be colder Thursday and lake effect snow is likely north and northeast. Inside the heaviest snow, 2-5” of snow could fall during the day, but outside the persistent snow, a trace to 2” is possible if the snow bands meander a bit around the area. As always, the direction will be critical in determining where the snow bands develop. We’ll monitor this for any changes. Highs will be in the teens to near 20 with gusts reaching 20-25 mph. Lake effect snow will taper Thursday night into early Friday morning as the winds turn more southwesterly. Lows will range from 6-11.

Most of Friday looks quiet with highs in the low to mid 20s. An arctic cold front will cross the area Friday night and temperatures will plummet Saturday. There could be some snow squalls late Friday into very early Saturday as the front crosses the area. Lows drop to around 0 by Saturday morning.

Saturday and Sunday will be bitterly cold. Add in the wind Saturday and wind chills could be as low as minus 20 to minus 30 at times; especially overnight. Some lake effect snow showers are possible Saturday with highs around 5. Overnight lows will drop well below zero and could be as low as -15 to -20. Sunday’s highs will struggle to 10.
