SoFi, to award one very special healthcare worker with a large chunk of change, Hunte knew that she needed to nominate Perpignan. Binghamton University tweeted out a BIG congratulations to Perpignan on Thursday:

The rules of the "Live's Healthcare Hero $100K Giveaway," contest were simple. Family, friends, and colleagues were invited to nominate a healthcare worker who stepped up in major ways to love on and care for their community during the pandemic and the winner would receive up to $100,000 to help pay off student loans.

According to the nomination submitted by Hunte, Perpignan fought for proper PPE supplies for his fellow healthcare workers, traveled to McAllen, Texas to lend a hand there when things got rough, assisted the elderly residents of his community by coordinating medication and grocery deliveries, and also co-founded the Greater New York City Black Nurses Association.

Perpignan is one of ten kids, a husband, and father of two, and was the first in his family to graduate from college and when the pandemic struck, he jumped in with both feet, putting his personal safety to the side to be there to care for not only those in his community but beyond.

After being told that he was the big winner of "Live's Healthcare Hero $100K Giveaway," Perpignan told Kelly and Ryan, "This will really put me in a space to focus more on my goals and giving back to the community, which is what I've dreamed of doing for a very long time."
