In a post on social media in April, Health Beat Natural Foods owner Michele Moelder wrote that she is retiring and will be closing the store, thanking the community for 40 years of patronage.

Customers have been generous in their kind words regarding the longstanding business and what it has meant to them through the years leaving comments on the Facebook page for Health Beat Natural Foods that read, "I have relied on your store for guidance over the years. Great store, wonderful staff! Best wishes for your retired future!" and "Such a wonderful store & incredible knowledgeable staff ! So sorry to hear your closing! Best wishes on your retirement!"

While no closing date has been announced, the store which is located at 214 Main Street in Johnson City, mentioned this week that it will remain open until all inventory has been closed and the business has already begun the process of clearing its shelves. At the present time Health Beat Natural Foods is offering a discount of 50 percent off all of its regularly priced items.

The closure of Johnson City's Health Beat Natural Foods comes on the heels of business changes and growth in the Village. It was recently announced that 8-Bit Bites will be taking over the former Red Robin Diner. 8-Bit Bites is described as a "100% Halal restaurant that brings the nostalgia of the 80's and 90's."

Another vacant spot in Johnson City is also about to be filled and that spot is the former Save-A-Lot store which was located next to Health Beat Natural Foods. Taking over the empty space, according to WNBF News will be a plasma collection company.
