What did you do over the weekend?  I went back to my college for Alumni weekend.  The four hour drive to the State University of New York at Fredonia prompted many great memories as the drive didn't seem as long to me as it did when I was in my late teens.  It played like a TV movie.  These were the best years of my life and I was excited to relive these memories in my head.

I haven't been back on campus for 26 years so as you can image, there were changes.  When my VW pulled up on campus, there were some new buildings but for the most part, the campus remained how I remember it.  Fredonia State is known for it's music and sports programs.  Seeing students dressed in tuxes and gowns, reminded me of some of my friends that played in jazz bands and in classical concerts on campus.  While there, I enjoyed a Blue Devils soccer game, hockey game and toured the beautiful new (to me) Fredonia fitness center, complete with an olympic size swimming pool. What attracted me back when I was looking at schools was the strong Communications program, including having the first college radio station in the state.  I never did locate my WCVF radio station.

The only thing disappointing about the weekend is that more of my friends did not show.  I started planning the reunion in the beginning of Summer, booked a room and did my best to locate everyone, thanks to Facebook.  Most everyone seemed interested but what I thought would be an awesomely large reunion of my friends turned out to be my friends John and Lisa.  That's OK though.  We shared a lot of great memories and pumped money in to the downtown Fredonia economy with the purchase of more than a few rounds of beverages.  It was good seeing all of our former watering holes thriving:  Sunny's, Old Main Inn and BJ's.

It was a fun weekend although I don't recommend the hotel we stayed in as it smelled like sweat socks.  Other than that, I'm glad I went to my college reunion. I included a tour of Fredonia State, in case you wanted to see where I went to school.  If you have a second, let me know what you think about reunions with my poll below.
