My son hates it, but we have a rule in our house that when we have visitors, we don't whisper. The reason? We've all been in an uncomfortable situation where we know that someone has been talking about us through whispers and it hurts.

So, in our house, the words are either said out loud or they're swallowed and saved for later. Another rule that we have is that we don't keep secrets from our mom and dad. I mean, there will come a time in life when our son will have secrets from us, but at the age of five, there isn't anything he needs to keep hidden.

We've been taught all of our adult lives that secrets are meant to be kept as such but in reality, there are some things that we shouldn't keep to ourselves. In fact, keeping these secrets bottled up could end up causing more harm than good.
