Authorities say several people were arrested following a shoplifting investigation in Cortland County.

Sheriff's officers were sent to the Walmart store in the town of Cortlandville around 7:40 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators say two men and a woman allegedly were stealing merchandise. A woman was found in a vehicle outside the store, apparently waiting for the three others to exit.

Officials say 25-year-old Christopher Duers of Cortland possessed "large quantities of narcotics" and some marijuana. He was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance. He also faces counts of conspiracy, unlawful possession of marijuana and petit larceny.

Two other Cortland residents, 33-year-old Stacy Updike and 25-year-old James Wright, were charged with petit larceny.

The woman discovered in the vehicle, 30-year-old Philicia Twomey of Cortland, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and possession of a controlled substance.
