Barbara Fiala has been chosen to again serve as chair of the Broome County Democratic Committee.

Fiala first served as chair of the local party organization in 1996. She was elected county clerk in 1998 and county executive in 2004. She was reelected in 2008. Governor Andrew Cuomo appointed her to serve as New York state Department of Motor Vehicles commissioner in 2011.

Fiala succeeds Bridge Kane as chair of the Broome Democratic Committee. Kane became chair in 2019.

In a news release, Fiala said: "I'm excited for the opportunity to build on the progress our Party has made over the last several years."
