New York State Police say a driver intentionally rammed one of their cars while they were assisting Sidney Police for a vehicle that failed to stop on Interstate 88 at exit 9.

Troopers say the vehicle fled Sidney Police shortly at 9:40 p.m. January 10  and exited the interstate at Exit 8 in Bainbridge, traveling onto State Highway 206.

Authorities say while on State Highway 206 near County Route 20 in the Town of Masonville, the suspect vehicle intentionally hit the State Police vehicle causing damage before continuing down Parker Hollow Road where it left the road. Troopers and Village Police got out of their vehicles to approach the suspect when he sped off again.

The vehicle was found a short time later, rolled onto its roof on Pine Hill Road. It was not being pursued by authorities at the time and police say they don’t know why it crashed.

The driver and a passenger, who have not been identified, were taken to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
