Another store in the Oakdale Mall could be on the chopping block as its parent company announces plans to close 100 stores by 2022.

The Wall Street Journal reported January 22 that Express, Incorporated, which has an Express Factory Outlet store in Johnson City, will close 31 stores by the end of the month and another 35 by the end of 2021 in addition to nine stores that closed last year.  There has been no word on the fate of the Broome County outlet.

The Journal report says the closures are part of a broader plan with the company anticipating $80-million in costs cuts, including eliminating jobs, in the next three years.

Part of the plan includes chopping positions at its Columbus, Ohio headquarters and New York City design studio.

Express said it would relaunch its loyalty and private0lable credit card toward the end of the year.

The Oakdale Mall in Johnson City has been seeing a steady exodus of retailers over the course of the past few years.
