Endicott Mayor John Bertoni, who is leaving office at the end of the month, is being recognized for his service by the two other mayors of the Triple Cities.

Binghamton Mayor Richard David and Johnson City Mayor Greg Deemie Friday offered their praise and best wishes to the outgoing mayor.

The three mayors had been scheduled to appear together on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program but Bertoni was unable to join the others in the studio.

David and Deemie had an opportunity to chat with Bertoni, who participated by phone.

The three mayors discussed the shared challenges they've faced over the last several years in leading Binghamton, Johnson City and Endicott.

Bertoni is the longest serving of the trio, having spent the last 12 years as Endicott mayor. He also served six years as a village trustee and ten years as Union town supervisor.

Bertoni, a Democrat, last March announced he would not seek a fourth term as mayor.

Endicott's next mayor will be Republican Linda Jackson. She defeated Democratic candidate Cheryl Chapman last month in a close race.
