Endicott residents are invited to a public information meeting November 6 to talk about a proposed litium-ion battery recycling facility at the Huron Campus.

The 6:30 p.m. session will be at the Huron Auditorium on Heritage Circle in Endicott. 

Information is expected to be presented on the process of recycling the old energy storage units, the air emissions expected and the permitting process.

While the development, which had initially had been slated to be operational earlier this year before running into some permitting and other snags, is expected to add dozens of jobs to the region, some neighbors have said they aren’t quite convinced about the safety of the facility.  That concern is heightened by several reports of problems with litium ion batteries igniting in everything from cell phones to electric cars.  Other safety concerns surround air, water and soil quality.
