The heartwarming tale behind this year's symbolic Rockefeller Christmas tree donation by Earl Albert of Stockbridge, Massachusetts is one that tugs at the strings of empathy and compassion.

Earl and his wife, Leslie, planted a humble Norway Spruce in their yard in 1967. The couple lovingly adorned the tree with Christmas lights each holiday season until it outgrew their tradition. Standing proud at a towering height of 74 feet, this tree became the selected centerpiece for the prestigious 2024 holiday festivities at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

However, a layer of sorrow shrouds this joyous occasion. Leslie, the pillar of Earl's support and love passed away just two days before their tree was chosen to light up Rockefeller Center. Now, as Earl grapples with health challenges and recuperates from a stroke in an Albany hospital, the luminous event that he nurtured for decades might be witnessed from afar rather than in person.

Despite his medical complications, Earl's friends and family are rooting for his quick recovery and trying to cheer him up with heaps of holiday cheer and love.

The deep meaning behind Earl's tree reminds us to spread some love and kindness. As the town that had the honor of being last year's Rockefeller tree town, what if our community were to join forces to show our love to Earl? What if we were to each take it upon ourselves to send him heartfelt cards filled with warm wishes and holiday greetings, connecting our two tree towns with a sprinkle of love and support?

Sending a card would be a wonderful way to show how even small acts of kindness can spread happiness and light from one tree town to another. If you would like to send Earl a card, you can send your Christmas card to Earl Albert at the following address:
