This time of year during the holidays, the Red Cross conducts blood drives across the country including the Southern Tier of New York and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

With the pandemic hitting us in 2020, some blood drives may have been postponed or cancelled, but the need for blood supplies never goes away, so that's why it's important to give when Red Cross blood drives do occur.

The Red Cross Facebook page notes that when you give blood, you could be helping to save the life of a child, maybe someone who has just been in an accident or someone who is fighting cancer.

And the next blood drive just happens to be tomorrow ( Tuesday 12/28) with the File Mile Point Fire Company Blood Drive located at 16 Crescent Drive, Kirkwood. This blood drive is in honor of New York State Police Trooper Christopher Skinner.

The blood drive will be from 12 Noon to 6 p.m. and you can make an appointment by visiting redcrossblood.org. You can also download the blood donor app and enter sponsor code: Skinner, or call 1-800 RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767.)

The Red Cross Facebook page mentions that donors will receive a free Red Cross long-sleeved t-shirt while supplies last. Help saves lives and keep New York State Police Trooper Christopher Skinner's memory alive.
