Distracted Driving, DWI Charges in Watson Blvd. Crash

Charges are being filed against a woman who hit a snowbank, causing her car to become airborne before coming to rest in a parking lot on Watson Boulevard January 30.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say 34-year-old Kara Kristek was using her cell phone while driving and took her eyes off the road prior to the crash.

Authorities say Kristek also appeared intoxicated. She was taken to the Sheriff’s Office for further investigation and authorities say they measured her blood alcohol content at .15%

Kristek has been ticketed for driving while intoxicated, DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher, driving while using a mobile phone and moving from a lane unsafely.

She’s been ordered to appear in Town of Union Court at a later date.
