What You Can And Cannot Do This Year At The DSGO
By now, we hope that you've heard the fantastic news! The DICK'S Sporting Goods Open (DSGO) at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott is on. They'll be celebrating its 50th year of professional golf in Broome County from June 28th to July 4th. Talk about a great way to celebrate our independence.
I take my dad every year to the final day on Sunday and I'm hoping to this year but things are different. Last year was canceled because of the pandemic and we didn't know exactly what would happen this year.
So here is what we know...so far.
The Good and Great News
First the GREAT News: Three-time Academy of Country Music Awards winners, Old Dominion will be playing the Friday night concert. The string of country acts (except for Bon Jovi in 2017) continues and we couldn't be happier. Ask anyone that has seen them before and they'll tell you that it's one of the best concerts that they've ever seen.
The Good News is that it is happening but it is 2021 so there are some changes. The DICK'S Sporting Goods Open will be following NYS, and Broome County Health Department guidelines along with PGA TOUR regulations.
Here are some of the things that you'll need to know before you go.
What You Can Do At The DSGO
Bring your own chair because public bleachers have been eliminated from the tournament.
There will be cashless transactions. and major credit cards will be accepted. To minimize transactions, your three-day ticket will include food and beverage to stop concession transactions altogether.
You can share your three-day ticket with other people like friends and family.
Have a great time.
What You Can't Do At The DSGO
You will not be able to get autographs from the Champion Tour golfers this year.
You can eat but you can't consume your food or beverage within 10 feet of the rope line.
There won't be hospitality tents this year instead there will be 12-person cabana pods.
You won't be able to get a ride on a shuttle bus this year. For the safety of the patrons, all shuttles have been eliminated.
What You Need To Remember
Remember that things can change on a day-to-day basis. It's easy to focus on the things that we don't like but what does that really accomplish? Enjoy what we have and make the best of it. Just think about last year when there was no tournament at all.
I don't know about you but I REALLY MISSED IT! What about you?
