The past few days these cute by very dangerous fuzzy caterpillars have caused a stir.

WBNG has confirmed through Facebook and a local family that the White Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar has been spotted in Broome County.

A local mother took to Facebook to warn others about these little critters. Her family took a camping trip to Windsor and came upon this caterpillar.

Her son complained about a burning sensation on his neck and his mother discovered the caterpillar and a red rash.

The White Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar carries venom in fuzzy spines. When this critter stings a human it can cause very severe rashes.

If you spot the White Hickory Tussock Moth Caterpillar officials say DO NOT touch them.

If you do end up with a rash, it can be easily treated with proper medication and anti-rash creams.

More severe cases should be brought to medical professionals.
