It's getting bigger and better every year and if you haven't been to this event, you are missing out. It's the 13th Annual Celebrating Women's Athletics Luncheon on Monday, February 26th at the Events Center at Binghamton University.

Since it's beginning in 2006, the Luncheon has raised over $300,000 and helps with scholarships for female student athletes. Two more scholarships will be awarded this year.

In the past speakers included WNBA player Rebecca Lobo and U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame gymnast Shannon Miller, the most decorated gymnast in American history.

My favorite was US Olympic Swimmer Amy Van Dyken. Her story is amazing because she's now in a wheelchair after being injured in an ATV accident. She talked about perseverance and getting back up after being down.

This year's featured speaker is Shannon Boxx. She was a member of the United States Women's Soccer Olympic team and won gold medals in 2004, 2008 and 2012. She was a member of the NCAA National Championship Team with Notre Dame and was a part of four World Cups Teams.

So if you have a young woman (or man) that has dreams of being an athlete or is just looking for good role models then you don't want to miss this. Tickets are still available by stopping at the Events Center Box Office or go here to get them now.
