Celebrating the Final Day of Summer
Today is the final official day of Summer with a Frost Advisory in the morning and sunshine and 62 for the rest of the day. So how are you going to celebrate? Play a round of golf, go to your favorite ice-cream stand or maybe take a relaxing drive.
NOPE! I'm going to rake leaves. It is actually my daughter, Tara's idea. When she asked me yesterday about raking leaves, I said "Rake what?" She wanted to do them now before there are too many on the ground. I have one smart daughter and I like the way she thinks.
This gives me a chance to bond with my daughter and it'll give us another memory to share. Not to mention that with so few leaves on the ground, I can still get a round of golf in before the day is over. It's a win-win for everybody.
Also since it's 2020, her school is one day at the building with virtual learning the next day. So I suggested that maybe she could count raking leaves as a PE activity. She gave me a look but I'm not sure if it was a "GREAT IDEA DAD" stare or a "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME, RIGHT" glance.
With so few leaves, the bag won't be heavy so I can encourage her to lift the bag in reps. It sounded like a good idea to me since virtual PE can include the game "Would You Rather."
I just hope she doesn't ask me to jump in the pile. So what are you going to do for the final day of summer?
