It's no secret that Carrie Underwood is fiercely loyal to the Nashville Predators hockey team (her husband is captain, after all), but some Anaheim Ducks fans weren't pleased at the singer throwing shade at their team.

"Woah, what's with all the empty seats in Anaheim tonight?! Wouldn't happen in #Smashville that's for sure!!" Underwood wrote on Twitter before Friday's (May 12) NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs game against the Ducks.

Some fans retaliated quickly, with one writing: "0 points in the past 12 games for your hubby...maybe you shouldn't worry about our fans so much and take care of your man."

By Sunday night, even the Anaheim Ducks' official Twitter page had gotten in on the friendly competition following the California team's 5-3 win against Nashville:

The news article in question referenced an Underwood song in their headline, which read "Ducks Take the Wheel."

Sunday's game marked Game 2 of the Western Conference Finale, and the teams are now tied. We can only imagine what game three will entail as far as smack talks and headlines go. Thankfully for the Ducks, Underwood has plenty of options in the form of song titles.

Underwood never shies away from showing her support for husband Mike Fisher's hockey team. The singer is frequently on hand for the team's home games dressed in the team's colors and sharing videos and pictures after they win. She even performed the National Anthem at the NHL Playoffs — that game was a win for the Predators in more ways than one.
