BU Hosting FREE Debate Tournament For Students From 3rd to 12th Grade
With all the New York and Pennsylvania schools done at their physical locations for the rest of the semester because of the coronavirus, here's something for them to try while at home.

Binghamton University's Speech and Debate Team will be having a FREE international online debate tournament for kids in grades 3-5 and 6-12. Hurry because you only have until May 9th to register and the speeches begin on May 11th.
The tournament takes place with the students uploading one video a day (Monday through Friday)and they'll be judged over the weekend. They'll take part in two debate rounds and take each side of the topic.
Preliminary rounds will go for three weeks followed by elimination rounds for the top three participants in both divisions. The top three finishers in each group will be mailed a trophy. They will also have a donation made in their name to a local nonprofit in their area that ranges from $25 to $200.
This gives a child that doesn't have a debate team at their school to give debate a chance. Here's more great news, the student doesn't need to have debate experience to participate in this FREE event.
My daughter, Tara is very excited to give this a try and I can't wait to see how she does. Go here for more information and to sign up or contact debate@binghamton.edu.
