Tioga County, however, is reeling from a spike in coronavirus deaths.  Legislative Chairwoman Martha Sauerbrey April 29 announced there have been four additional deaths, bringing the County total to 10 from the pandemic.

Sauerbrey says all those deaths are associated with the Elderwood Nursing Home in Waverly, which is accounting for 66% of Tioga’s 98 positive COVID-19 cases. She says there may be a lag in the incidents and the report to the county by the facility as officials notify the family of the residents.

Delaware County reports one new positive case bringing its COVID-19 positives to 70 with four deaths.  Chenango County’s count was unchanged at 95 with three deaths attributed to the coronavirus.
