A Bradford County man is accused of maiming a dog that he said bothered him with its barking.

Pennsylvania State Police say 32 year old Simon Wickey lives a half mile from the home where the dog was kept on a leash.

The authorities say on two occasions in November, Wickey is accused of going to the home on Baptist Hill Road in Columbia Township and hitting the dog in the eyes when the owner wasn’t home, causing serious injuries to the animal that resulted in permanent disfigurment.

Wickey is charged with cruelty to animals.

The owner of the dog says he is seeking restitution for the substantial costs of veterinary care that was needed for the canine.
