Do you remember the year the Binghamton University Men's Basketball team won the America East championship at the Events Center in 2009? I was at that game, and wow, what an amazing win that was against UMBC with a score of 61 to 51. To be a part of that crowd in the Events Center was something I'll never forget. So much excitement for the game and to know that for the first time in school history, the team would be playing in the NCAA national tournament.
The America East winner advances to the NCAA tournament, and in 2009, Binghamton was selected as a number 15 seed, placed up against 2nd seeded Duke. The Bearcats lost by a score of 86 to 62. But it was great to see our local team on the big stage.
We'll see how both teams do this time around. Both Binghamton University Men's and Women's playoff games can be heard on our sister radio station 1290 AM & 92.1 FM - WNBF.
