Binghamton to Get $1.1 Million in Added CDBG Funding

The City of Binghamton is in line to get $1,140,771 in additional Community Development Block Grant Funding.

U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirstin Gillibrand of New York say localities in the Empire State are getting $2.4 billion in federal funding for economic and public infrastructure as part of the coronavirus stimulus package passed by the Senate on Friday.

Ithaca is slated to get $401,823.

According to a news release from the Senate Minority Leader, communities will use the funding for essential services, workforce development and training and to retrofit community facilities for medical or quarantine use.  The funding can also go toward food and delivery of essential supplied to vulnerable populations.

Senators Gillibrand and Schumer say the money in the “Corona Three” negotiations is the first of a series of allocations that localities may be eligible for.
