Some will argue that hockey was meant to play outdoors.  If you've ever played hockey, weather in high school, college or just for fun, you know playing hockey inside vs outside is a totally different feel.

Pond hockey is wildly popular all over and this Saturday, February 20th and Sunday the 21st, it's making a showing at Chenango Valley State Park under the guise of the First Annual Binghamton Pond Hockey and Winter Festival and looking at the weather today, it looks like it will be the perfect day to enjoy without the biting winds of recent days.

If you're not part of the 40 or so registered teams, there will be plenty else to take in at scenic State Park, including horse drawn carriage rides, nature walks and plenty of vendors with some great outdoor friendly food.

All proceeds from the weekend will benefit the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier and the Do It For Daron Program.  Both provide initiatives for youth suicide prevention and youth mental health programs and awareness.
