A study of more than 3 million people between the ages of 18 and 75 in the Unites States by Lumosity ranks Binghamton at number 81 of the top 100 smartest cities list, which is pretty impressive considering how many cities there are in the country.

Apparently city size wasn’t a factor in the study because the cities that made the top 100 list were both large and small.  As a matter of fact, the number one city on the list is Ithaca.  Nice!

The Lumosity brain-training games used in the study measured performance across five cognitive areas: memory, processing speed, flexibility, attention, and problem solving. Then the scores were ranked by location.

As it turns out, most of the cities on the top 100 list are college towns. Look at Ithaca- the top city on the list- it’s home to Cornell University and Ithaca College.
