This year's Great Race route will pass through 17 cities, beginning in Warwich, Rhode Island and ending 2,300 miles later in Fargo, North Dakota. Binghamton was the fourth stop on the tour, which runs from June 18 to June 26. The race also made stops in Montgomery and Wellsville in New York and Erie, Pennsylvania.

The event features more than 120 cars built before 1974, including a number of cars that are over 100 years old. According to the program for the event, there is well over $5 million worth of vintage cars involved in the race this year. The winner of the Grand Championship will win $50,000 with another $100,000 being split among several other class winners.

Participants are split into five different categories. The "Grand Champion" class applies to anyone who has previously won the event. "Expert" class is for those who have finished well in multiple years but have never actually won the race. The "Sportsman" class is the largest class, designed for those who simply enjoy the event and have participated in previous years. "Rookie" class is for newcomers to the Great Race. And the "X-Cup" class is specifically tailored for young people who build a car specifically for the Great Race.

The Great Race will travel south next year, starting in St. Augustine, Florida and ending in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
