Binghamton has always been known for producing creative minds, and one of its own, Aaron Gold, is making waves on the New York film scene.

A graduate of both Binghamton High School and Binghamton University, Aaron has taken his hometown spirit and turned it into something that’s getting big attention in the film world. He executive produced and acted in 5 Ways I Didn’t Marry You, an award-winning short film directed by Tom Dunn that’s gaining momentum across the festival circuit.

Binghamton Filmmaker’s Project Wins Big at New York Film Festivals

Aaron’s latest project, 5 Ways I Didn’t Marry You, recently took home “Best Editing” from the iWoman/NYWIFT Film Festival, a celebration of New York films featuring women in leadership roles. It also had its first in-person screening at the New York Shorts International Film Festival, held at Cinema Village in New York City, a huge moment for any filmmaker, let alone one with roots right here in the Southern Tier.

A Thought-Provoking Love Story Told Across Five Universes

So, what’s this award-winning short about? In 5 Ways I Didn’t Marry You, audiences are taken through five parallel universes where a woman named Bernadette experiences different relationships, none of which end in marriage. Each world explores a new dynamic, asking thoughtful questions about love, happiness, and what truly makes a relationship successful. It’s part romcom, part emotional reflection, and entirely human. The film invites viewers to think about how small choices can change the entire course of a relationship or a life.

Binghamton’s Aaron Gold Expands His Creative Reach with New Film Collaboration

In addition to his work on 5 Ways I Didn’t Marry You, Aaron also appears in another short film directed by Jacob Maximillian Baron called Canarsie Pier. Both films showcase the creative partnership between the two artists and highlight Aaron’s growing presence in the independent film world. His range as both an actor and a producer shines through, proof that the talent coming out of Binghamton can hold its own on any stage.
