Can you believe it? August is less than a week away, where does the time go to? Before you know it, summer will be over, the kids will be going back to school...and the first season for the Binghamton Black Bears will be underway.

The Binghamton Black Bears are the newest hockey team in town and I can't wait. Here is what we know so far. Their color scheme is green because it represents Binghamton and black because it looks great on the uniform.

They picked the name "Black Bear" because it's an intimidating name and what child wouldn't want to have a stuffed Binghamton Black Bear to have as their very own? I can't wait to get mine.

They'll play in the Federal Prospects Hockey League and will have 30 home games at the Visions Federal Credit Union Memorial Arena. Their first home game will be on Saturday, November 6th against the Delaware Thunder.

What's Next For The Binghamton Black Bears

The Binghamton Black Bears will have an Open House on Saturday, August 7th at the Arena from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. It's your chance to meet and speak to the Black Bears owner and coach.

You'll be able to check out the rink with the NEW Arena renovations. They'll have a bounce house for kids, food, and a chance to renew or buy your season tickets. Jerseys will also be available during the Open House on Saturday, August 7th.

I have to admit that I LOVE the Binghamton Black Bears' sense of humor. Someone made a comment about how there would be fights this year and their reply: We can guarantee you, no fights at the fan event.

In The Meantime, Here's Something To PUMP YOU UP!!!

Mark your calendar, save the date, and join them at the rink on Saturday, August 7th for your chance to get in the Black Bear spirit. Your city, your team, your Binghamton Black Bears!
