There is a lot of exciting news for fans of the Binghamton Black Bears. Earlier this month, they named Jake Schultz as their first ever captain along with four alternates: Kyle Powell, Tyler Gjurich, Gavin Abbott and Tyson Kirkby.

Kirkby responded with a hat trick on Friday against Elmira while Riley McVeigh had 36 saves for a 6-3 win. The Black Bears made it two in a row on Saturday by doubling up the Mammoth by a 4-2 score. Oh how SWEEP it is.

Binghamton Black Bears Honoring Past And Present Military Members This Weekend

Binghamton returns home for Military Appreciation Weekend at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. That's right, I said, "weekend" and that means TWO nights of Black Bear hockey as the Motor City Rockers make their first ever visit to the arena.

This Friday, November 11th and Saturday, November 12th, they will honor members of the U.S. Military past and present with a FREE ticket to the game. Military family members will also be able to BUY tickets for only $10.

Free Season Tickets For Southern Tier Hockey Association Players

There will be great hockey (as always) along with some fantastic surprises planned. Speaking of free tickets, last year, the Binghamton Black Bears gave a season ticket to anyone that played in the Southern Tier Hockey Association (STHA).

They are doing it again this year, so if you played in the STHA, talk to your coaches and get your season ticket and be a part of Military Appreciation Weekend. Face-off is at 7:00 both nights and I'll be doing Chuck-A-Puck between the 2nd and 3rd period.

The Binghamton Black Bears being the weekend tied for first in the Empire Division with the Danbury Hat Tricks. Let's pack the den and get ready to roar for our military members this weekend!
