Pokemon Go has hit the Greater Binghamton area big time.  Driving around town last week, it was clear to me that kids and big kids were playing this latest game craze.  But what about the listings you see popping up on Craigslist?  Is it safe?

That's a good question.  While most transactions on Craigslist have proven to be safe, at the same time, Craigslist has had a history of being a "platform for scammers and criminals" and being cautious with Pokemon listings on Craigslist should be your number one priority.

According to Komando.com,  "some Craigslist users who are skilled at the game are offering to teach others how to play. Others are offering to drive gamers around so that they can collect their little monsters safely. There are listings for Pokémon trainers, Pokémon bodyguards, and even people who are offering to hatch your Pokémon eggs."

Where the safety concerns come in is when people advertise meeting up with gamers to do the leg work for them or simply exchanging phone numbers.

Be cautious.  Komando.com suggests "one way to stay protected is through the Safe Meeting Place app available in your Apple iTunes App Store or Google Play.  There are also red flags you should look for whenever you use the site. "

If you don't think safety first, then what's the point if a game becomes something more than a fun game.
