Bassett Healthcare’s Dr. Badalian Named Top Surgery Researcher

Dr. Samuel Badalian, MD, Ph.D., of Bassett Healthcare Network has been named a 2025 Healthcare Research All-Star for his incredible work in Gynecologic Surgery.

This recognition isn’t handed out lightly, it’s reserved for only the top 5% of hospitals and surgeons in the country making real, research-backed advances in specialty care. Dr. Badalian didn’t just make the cut, he’s in the top 3% of all surgeons nationwide.

What Makes This Recognition So Special

The Healthcare Research All-Star list is put together by Avant-garde Health, a major name in healthcare quality and analytics. They evaluated more than 424,000 physicians and 4,700 hospitals across the U.S. to identify leaders who are actively shaping the future of care through research. Dr. Badalian stood out in Gynecologic Surgery, specifically for the volume and quality of research he’s published.

Changing Lives Here and Abroad

Dr. Badalian’s impact goes far beyond Bassett Healthcare and New York State. A major focus of his work is in Urogynecology and pelvic floor disorders, especially in Armenia. He’s been instrumental in making Urogynecology its own recognized subspecialty there. Just last summer, he and his team supervised five medical fellows during 23 successful surgeries at the Wigmore Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Yerevan.
