Big things are happening in the town of Maine and you don't want to miss it this weekend. It's the 2nd Annual Maine Fest this Saturday, September 14th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

It'll feature a "Plein Air Paint Out" event, local artist displays, Flea Market, chicken BBQ, musicians performing throughout the day and more. It'll be held on the meadow behind the Maine Federated Church in Maine.

"Plein Air" is a French term for "open air" and describes people who take their easels outdoors to paint landscapes and other outdoor subjects in the surrounding countryside. Go here to find out more about Plein Air.

Maine Fest is a free family-friendly event. It features artists displaying and/or demonstrating their work along with musicians performing on porches. It also has a trolley ride through the village, kids activities, food and more.

The Museum Buildings will be open for guided tours including Nanticoke Valley Historical Society Janet W Bowers Museum,13 Nanticoke Rd; Schoolhouse Number 4, 14 Nanticoke Rd. and Pitcher’s Mill, 2819 NYS RTE 26.

The Nanticoke Valley Historical Society is a non-profit organization that was founded to preserve and showcase the History of the Valley with its Museum, School House, Grist Mill and Carriage Barns.
