Let’s be realistic- if someone (say a college student) finds themselves eating ramen noodles every day, they’re probably doing it because they don’t have the funds to afford other meal options.

And because they can’t afford other meal options, they might not have the extra money to add ingredients to jazz up their ramen noodles. But maybe you do have the funds and maybe you genuinely like ramen noodles. Or maybe you want to re-live your college days and get nostalgic with ramen noodles, but are looking for ways to take them to a level you couldn’t afford when you were a struggling student.     Tex Mex Ramen Noodles

    Brown a pound of beef and stir in a package of taco seasoning mix and boiled ramen noodles. Put all of this into a big serving bowl or platter and top with diced tomato, and onion, some shredded cheese, a handful of chopped cilantro and crushed tortilla chips.

    Cilantro and Carrot Ramen Noodles

    Boil 2-3 packages of ramen noodles in water only, then drain and put in a big bowl. Add 1/2 cup grated carrots and a handful of chopped fresh cilantro. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/3 a cup of rice wine vinegar, 2 tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of sesame oil. Drizzle over the noodles and carrots.

    Shepard’s Pie Ramen Style

    Brown a pound ground beef with a cup of diced onion. After the beef is cooked, place in a glass casserole dish, sprinkle with about half a bag of frozen peas and carrots and then top with two packages of boiled ramen noodles, but only use one seasoning packet, not both. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Top with cheese if you want.

    Cheesy Ramen Noodle Casserole

    Brown a pound of ground beef with a medium diced onion. Drain and then add the flavor packets from 3 packets of ramen noodles. Simmer for about 4 minute and then add 3 cups of water and a can of diced tomatoes. Add the ramen noodles and cook for another 4 or so minutes. Grease a casserole dish and add the skillet mixture. Cover with sliced Velveeta cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until the cheese is gooey.

    Thai Chicken Ramen Noodles

    Stir together 2 tablespoons of soy sauce with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter a teaspoon of garlic powder and a teaspoon of chili powder. Stir this mixture into hot boiled noodles along with a cup of diced cooked chicken. Top with sliced green onions if you want.

    Creamy Chicken Flavored Ramen Noodles

    Mix together a chicken flavored ramen seasoning packet, a tablespoon of butter, and 2-3 tablespoons of milk. Stir this in with boiled and drained ramen noodles for a creamy chicken flavored side dish.

    Ham and Cheese Ramen Noodles

    Boil a package of noodles with the seasoning packet and then drain the noodles. Stir in a cup of diced ham and a cup of diced cheese. Cover the sauce pan and allow to sit for 5 minutes so the cheese melts.

    Break up 5 packages of ramen noodles and set to the side. Melt a 12 ounce package of butterscotch chips with 2 teaspoons of butter and a can of sweetened condensed milk. Add a package of instant butterscotch pudding to the chips and milk mixture. Stir in the noodles and then spread the mixture on parchment paper and let cool. Break into pieces once cooled.
