2016 Great New York State Fair Sets Attendance Record
Great weather, new attractions and the traditional things that we love made for a record breaking year for the Great New York State Fair.
Governor Cuomo announced that the 2016 Great New York State Fair had the highest attendance in its 175-year history. It broke many records during the twelve day run.
Over 1,097,000 people passed through the redesigned main gate which broke the record set in 2001. They celebrated by shattering a block of ice in the shape of the previous record at a celebration in the Fair's Empire Room.
Three new daily attendance records were broken during the Fair. Attendance was over 20 percent higher then last year and will be around 10 percent higher then the record that was set in 2001.
Final attendance numbers will be released later today.
The Great New York State Fair in Syracuse ended with a bang with a firework show immediately after Chicago was done performing at Chevy Court. Next year's New York State Fair will be here before you know it.
