Austrian police were notified Sunday of a grenade blast but were surprised to find out it wasn't a war zone or part of a criminal act. The blast actually occurred inside a wood stove that was supposedly loaded with nothing but fire wood!

The grenade ended up being encased in the wood as the tree grew. Obviously the grenade was thrown or dropped in the fledgling tree during the WWII and was never recovered, therefore becoming part of the tree.

Fast forward many years to when the tree was chopped down and sold as firewood to an unidentified 22-year-old woman. The blast in the town of Gmunden blew out the stove's front facing glass, however the wood stoves cast iron body contained the blast and prevented injuries! Talk about a lucky lady!
