So... when you make a wish and toss your coins in that fountain,where do they go? Does a magical banking fairy come and magically wisp them away? Nope. Sadly...

"The Atlantic"  did some poking around to figure out what happens to a coin when someone makes a wish. Most of the time, homeless people scoop them out and buy stuff. If they don't get there hands on it it usually winds up in the hands of the less fortunate anyway!

The investigation showed that most fountain owners collect the coins in their fountains and donate them to local charities.
