If you saw the George Jones Funeral, this past Friday, you may have seen Vince Gill struggling to get through singing Go Rest High On That Mountain. Alongside him was his go to harmony vocalist Patty Loveless. She kept on singing when he couldn't go on. It was a sight to behold and I was glad to see Patty back on the stage.

Patty started out with a bang in her career. Her brother Roger faked his way into a meeting with Porter Wagoner, who immediately (with partner Dolly Parton) began helping the young talent out. She then worked with the WIlburn Brothers, replacing their previous singer Loretta Lynn. See the pattern of luck with Patty?

She let it all go, however, for love when she met her first husband who was a drummer for the Wilburn Brothers. She walked away from her establishing career( as a teenager will do) to marry that man. She struggled for work with him in North Carolina, then they divorced.

She turned to her brother to get her back to Nashville and bam! Patty Loveless' career took off. Along with her now husband, Emory Gordy, Jr, they made countless hit records.

Patty also worked as a background vocalist for other artists. Lately, they include Bob Seger, George Strait, Vince Gill and classic soul artist Solomon Burke.

These days, that is all Patty does musically, except appear occasionally, being a member, on the Grand Ole Opry. Patty has chosen to simply enjoy her life with her husband and family near Atlanta, Georgia. Her last album, though, is one you need to get. It's called Mountain Soul II and is some of the best music you will ever hear.

One final note: Patty does continue to do many charity projects, including partnering with NASCAR, so she will pop up occasionally!

Here is Patty with Vince at George Jones' Funeral and a couple of her other great songs, including her biggest hit How Can I Help You Say Goodbye. Enjoy!
