Listeria isn’t something to mess around with. Its an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in kids, frail or elderly people, people with weakened immune systems and unborn babies of pregnant women.

Wegmans has issued a recall on nectarines, plums and peaches that they believe might be contaminated by listeria. The fruit, which came in organic and non-organic was supplied by Wawona Packaging Company of California.
Included in the recall are:

  • 2-lb. Bagged Nectarines
  • 2-lb. Bagged Plums
  • 4-lb. Box Yellow Nectarines
  • 4-lb. Box Yellow Peaches
  • 2.5-lb. Family Pack Organic Peaches
  • Nectarines, sold individually by weight
  • Peaches, sold individually by weight
  • White Nectarines, sold individually by weight
  • White Peaches, sold individually by weight
  • Black Plums, sold individually by weight
  • Organic Peaches, sold individually by weight
  • Organic Nectarines, sold individually by weight
  • Organic Black Plums, sold individually by weight
  • Made fresh in-store and packaged, sliced peaches, sold by weight and sliced nectarines, sold by weight as well as Wegmans Peach Salsa.

If you purchased any of the recalled products between June 1 and July 20, 2014, you should throw them away and then visit the store for a full refund.
