A few days ago, my husband mentioned that he still had his draft papers somewhere. I was surprised- as a female who didn't have to think about such things, I didn't realize that the draft didn't end with the Vietnam War.

How incredibly wrong I was! After doing some research, I discovered that the Selective Service System actually makes it very clear that under the law, virtually all men between 18 and 25-years-old are required to register with Selective Service; but if some United State military generals have their way, the draft may be extended to include women between 18 and 25-years-old.

It was announced in December that every position within the United States military, including combat jobs, would be open to women. And now, some top military leaders say they want women to register for the draft.

In 1981, the Supreme Court ruled that women didn't have to register for the draft because we weren't eligible for combat jobs. But, that's not the case anymore and many top general say they believe it's time for women register.

What do you think?
