This hurts my avocado loving heart: experts are saying we might be in for a serious avocado shortage.

In the last 30 years the avocado market has more than tripled to become a $435 million industry in the United States and that translates into a lot of guacamole.

But, in states like California, which produces 95 percent of the United States’ avocados, an ongoing drought is putting a huge dent in production. The extreme lack of water is harming avocado harvests and has actually caused California to issue an official State of Emergency.

Here's a crazy fact- it takes a staggering 74 gallons of water to grow each pound of avocados. No water means no avocados. In the very near future, guacamole might be in limited supply. So, enjoy it while you can.
