This story is slightly appalling to me, I hardly think this was a fire-able offense. I think it was funny and totally something that I could see a teacher do when I was in school. Since when is it OK to let a student call the shots with a teacher?

There was snow in Frederick County, Maryland earlier this January, and a kid named Nathan tweeted to the school district's official Twitter account: "close school tammarow PLEASE." Obviously, he spelled "tomorrow" wrong. A school employee named Katie Nash runs the Twitter account, and she wrote back to Nathan:

"But then how would you learn how to spell 'tomorrow'?"  :-)

She ended the tweet with a smiley face, so we all knew she was just having fun with the student.

And then... she was fired.

People online are rallying behind her now on Twitter, but as far as anybody knows, the school district isn't planning on giving her the job back. What do you think about this? I'm slightly miffed about it!
