If you've always been curious about what it was like to be in Gobbler's Knob Pennsylvania on February 2nd, where Groundhog Day originated from, you're in luck because the biggest day in Gobbler's Knob is coming up in a few weeks and people are planning the trek right now!  It truly is the most fun you could possibly have on a winter day and this popular festival receives nothing but rave reviews.

Groundhog Day at Gobbler's Knob is getting ready to celebrate its 130th festival for the famous little rodent.  If you do go, plan to get there early -- very early, like 3 in the morning!   Punxsutawney Phil comes out of his hole at precisely 7:25am and if you drive all that way, you want to get the best view possible.

After you find out how much winter is left, there will be plenty to do in this small PA town. In fact, there are fun events in Punxsutawney even before Phil appears.  Many of the events will be held Saturday, January 30th through Tuesday, February 2nd. Some of these events include: The Groundhog Ball, Annual Groundhog Banquet, Cutting Edge Dueling Pianos, The Top Hat Decorating Contest, Best Winter Wear and Groundhog Day Wear Dog Competition, Phil 101, Hayrides, Groundhog Day Painting, Gobbler’s Knob Got Talent and many more!

Driving appears to be the only way to get there.  The estimated travel time from Binghamton is 4 hours and 14 minutes taking 81 South to 80 West. With thousands of people visiting from all over the world, nearby accommodations can be a challenge so my advice would be to plan now.  To find more about accommodations and the events of Groundhog Day, visit Groundhog.org.
